Duc in Altum

Along with several other students, I am Studying at Maryvale Institute in Birmingham for a Diploma in Evangelisation and Ministry following the Family Pathway. I find the Course an excellent tool in my own spiritual growth and very rewarding as a springboard for evangelisation at Parish level in the future. I am particularly interested in Family evangelisation in that parents are prime educators of their children in the Catholic Faith...or at least are deemed to be so. Unfortunately we have had several decades when solid Catholic teaching has neither been taught at home or in school in most cases. The interesting theme for the Course is Evangelisation for the New Millennium ( Novo Millennio Ineunte: Pope John Paul II). Indeed, the whole Course is based on the writings of Pope John Paul II. It has certainly helped me to discover a new way of evangelisation but by no means dilutes the TRUTH in any way. To 'step out into the deep' takes courage, to do nothing would take even more. I undertook the Course with four other people, three from a local Parish and another (like myself) from a neighbouring Parish. We have started to put together a new Mariage Preparation Course that would involve education as well as catechesis. As most orthodox Catholics are aware, there is such a need to educate at all levels in the Catholic Faith when the 'norm' in our secular society consists of reletavism and nihilism.
